• Pitso Mosimane going for broke

    Bafana Bafana head coach has declared his team's upcoming 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier clash with Niger at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 8.30pm).

    Mosimane said his intentions are to go all out and do as much damage to their lesser known opponents, before they hit the road to visit the other Group G rivals Sierra Leone and defending champions Egypt.

    "The key factor is collecting three points in this fixture," said Mosimane.

    "We are playing at home and it is therefore crucial to start with a win because when we play away you will never know what might happen. So it is important to impose ourselves on the opponents and make sure they don't play their game."

    Nike Football kicked off ‘The Chance’ - the search for young talented footballers who will get an opportunity to train at the Nike Academy.

    ‘The Chance’ was launched in South Africa by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger in June, while he was here for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

    The search travels to various regions in the country; the first stop was the Nike built Football Training Centre, Soweto. A top-class facility geared towards arming young footballers with skills on and off the field.

    Youngsters have to impress former Bafana Bafana midfielder Eric Tinkler, who is the chief scout for the project, while other legends such as Tebogo Moloi and Shaun Bartlett will also lend a hand to spot talent at different locations.

    Fanteni has been training with the Urban Warriors with the view of sealing a move back home after a frustrating time away in Israel with Maccabi Haifa and Orlando Pirates last season.

    Ajaxct.com confirms that the box striker has renewed ties on a three year deal, with the club that gave him his first big break back in 2005.

    Ajax CEO George Comitis said that he was happy that the negotiations were behind them.

    Ghana - the best performing African team at the World Cup, where they reached the quaterfinals - were adopted by the local fans after Bafana were knocked out, even earning the name Ba-Ghana Ba-Ghana.

    At a press conference held in Johannesburg, Mosimane thanked the South African public for their support for the national team during the World Cup and urged them to continue in the same spirit.
